About the Role
As a Sales Manager, you will spearhead sales programs for national grocery chains and big-box retail accounts across the U.S. Your mission is to build and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers, brokers, and customers, increasing revenue, launching new food products, and expanding market share for the company. This position is focused on both account management and new business development, making it a critical role in driving success in the food retail sector.

Key Responsibilities for the Sales Manager – Food Industry
Develop & execute annual sales plans for national grocery and big-box retail accounts.
Drive new business development alongside managing key existing accounts.
Lead P&L, trade promotions, merchandising strategies, and manage distributor relationships.
Build and nurture consultative relationships with key decision-makers (KDMs) and partners.
Oversee the successful launch of new SKUs and promotional strategies.
Track market trends, analyze competitors, and adjust strategies as needed.
Utilize data from SPINS, IRI, and Nielsen to make insight-driven decisions.
Provide accurate forecasting, demand planning, and sales reporting.
Regular client visits, trade shows, and industry events with 25–50% travel.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
5–10+ years of sales experience with national grocery or big-box retailers, including launching and managing consumer-packaged food products.
Proven ability to exceed sales targets and KPIs consistently.
Experience in multi-category sales, ideally in Meats, Prepared Meals, or Fresh Food products.
Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on relationship-building and presentation.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.
Must-Have Skills
Extensive experience in the food industry (non-negotiable).
Deep understanding of national grocery and big-box retail sales, including account relationships.
Expertise in product launches and new business development.
Strategic thinking and consultative selling approach.
Strong analytical skills to drive data-based decision-making.
