Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA on a long-term contract. The role involves designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, building optimized data lakes and warehouses, and ensuring data quality and governance. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in AWS services, ETL/ELT development, and modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions).
  2. Data Ingestion: Implement frameworks to ingest data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, and streaming platforms.
  3. Data Governance: Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all pipelines.
  4. Data Lake & Warehouse Management: Build and optimize data lakes and warehouses using Amazon S3, Redshift, Athena, and Lake Formation.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable datasets.
  6. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Oversee data workflows, ensuring high availability, performance, and timely issue resolution.
  7. Innovation: Stay current with emerging AWS technologies and recommend improvements to enhance data engineering practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. AWS Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, Athena, SNS, and SQS.
  2. Programming & Querying: Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  3. Data Modeling: Solid knowledge of schema design, data modeling, and performance tuning.
  4. DevOps Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  5. Security & Compliance: Experience implementing security best practices including IAM, encryption, and compliance standards.
