Position: Transmission Line Engineer

Role & Responsibilities:
Lead the design, planning, and management of overhead transmission line projects from concept to completion.
Perform detailed engineering tasks including conductor selection, structure analysis, insulation studies, AC interference, static wire, and grounding investigations.
Develop comprehensive line designs including plans, profiles, cross-section details, and cost estimates.
Integrate advanced survey data such as LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and aerial imagery for optimized routing that respects environmental constraints (wetlands, vernal pools, protected areas).
Oversee compliance with key engineering standards such as AVANGRID TM and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
Utilize PLS-CADD (Power Line Systems – Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) software for accurate transmission line plan and profile drawings.
Strategically plan line routing considering right-of-way, local permits, congestion, and reliability factors.
Conduct probabilistic modeling, cost estimation, and other technical analyses to support project decisions.
Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams ensuring regulatory compliance and project success.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal Transmission Line Engineer is:
A motivated professional with 3–5+ years of relevant experience in transmission line or power system civil engineering.
Experienced in transmission line design, routing, and engineering standards compliance.
Proficient in engineering software tools, especially PLS-CADD.
Knowledgeable about environmental and structural constraints impacting transmission projects.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and project management skills.
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
